nearest coast is around one and a quarter hours drive away at Aguilas, a
typical Spanish resort and not over commercialised. Close by are numerous
unspoilt beaches which are rarely crowded.
Closer to home, Orce and Huescar have natural spring swimming pools called Fuencaliente, where you can swim with fish! Walkers & nature lovers should be in their element, with endless opportunities for exploring the wilderness. |

The historic city of Granada is around
one & a half hours drive away. Well worth a visit for its elegant
squares & winding streets, Granada also boasts the world famous
Alhambra, with its wonderfully preserved palace and the beautiful gardens.
Above the city is the ski resort of the Sierra Nevada.
Less than half an hour away from the house the dramatically sited castle at Velez Blanco has splendid views, and all the towns in the region offer street cafes and bars to sit and watch the world go by. |

around Fuente Nueva, Venta Micena & Orce is fast becoming a world
famous site for
archaeological discoveries. Each year students from around
the world come to dig and to uncover the region's fascinating
pre-history.
There is a Moorish castle in Orce and a palace close by houses remains from nearby archaeological digs. |
