average weather conditions

The climate follows a continental pattern, with hot summers and cold winters. Rainfall is generally low throughout the year and mostly comes in the form of short-lived thunderstorms. More general rain is however possible in the winter months. Most years see very low totals of rainfall, but occasionally there can better wetter periods, which please the farmers. Snow is possible from December through to March, but rarely lasts long.

Temperatures vary greatly from season to season. The high summer temperatures are tempered by the low humidity, making it feel less intense, and the altitude means the nights are pleasantly cool, even after the hottest days. In winter, although the temperatures may be low, this far south the height of the sun means it still has strength, so it is usually possible to sit outside on sunny days.
